Jim Brewer was born in Gainesville, Texas in 1954. He spent most of his childhood on the Oklahoma side of the Red River in Love County, Oklahoma. This is where he fell in love with the outdoors and the western way of life. At an early age, he began sketching animals and a love for art was born. He quickly developed respect for those artists whose art looked life like and so the journey began to develop his skill. It wasn’t until after retiring from business at the age of 60 years old did he begin to try his hand at sculpting in clay. He has worked long hours studying armatures, how to manipulate the clay, and how to tell a story with his art. Jim is dedicated to the decision of being 100% self-taught, and although the studying continues, he considers his journey to be fun and interesting.
Jim now lives with his wife Cheri in McIntosh County near Hitchita, Oklahoma nestled in the beautiful hills of Eastern Oklahoma on their ranch- Lone Bear Ranch. When Jim isn’t in his home art studio, he can be found teaching his grandkids the way of the land- hunting, fishing, and horsemanship.
